The History of Seated Acupressure Massage

Acupressure Massage is based on the principles of a 1,500 year old form of Japanese Massage called Anma, which means 'press and rub'.  But the concept of Seated Acupressure Massage was born recently in comparison, in 1984, in the United States.

An enterprising individual, David Palmer, began giving clothed, 15-minute treatments of the back, neck and shoulders, to employees at Apple Computers in Silicon Valley.  Such was the success of this venture that he went on to design a special folding portable massage chair on which to give sessions.  The chair enabled a better and far more effective treatment to be given, by providing total, comfortable support for the client.
